A Threshold Psalm
“The Sage is content to serve as an example…”
~ from TTC, verse 58
This season feels different.
In many ways
like a stepping back,
stepping down —
from leadership
and overseeing
to the front lines again.
I don’t miss
holding everything together.
I don’t miss
the weight of added responsibility.
I get to step in —
where needed.
Focused.
Hands on.
Simple.
Not easy.
Is this a step back?
Is this downward mobility?
I’m not sure.
But…
I don’t think so.
It feels more like
a step alongside
with new perspective.
A step inward
while keeping the whole in mind.
But where does that leave leadership —
so central
to who I’ve been?
Is that part of my life past?
I’m not sure.
But again…
I don’t think so.
It’s just different.
Less branches.
More roots.
Life lived with depth
rather than display.
Serving others
from a deeper source
that remains
through the seasons.
